         All of the R. calendulaceum seed was collected in the Roan Highlands 
         near the Tennessee - North Carolina border along the Appalachian Trail
         from  Carver's Gap to Round Bald and Engine Gap, to Jane Bald. The ele-
         vation in this area is between 5000 feet and 6000 feet. The R. cataw-
         biense seed was collected along a spur trail off of the Appalachian 
         Trail that begins near Jane Bald and extends out to Grassy Ridge at an 
         elevation over 6000 feet.

      Ostrom hybrid. Colour as pictured is off. Quite orange in bud, opening a
