R. pachysanthum (Maculifera) (-25 C). Oprindeligt fundet og beskrevet af en Japansk botaniker for mange herrens
år siden. Genfundet og introduceret i 1972 af Amerikaneren John Patrick RV 72001. Planten er smuk og hårdfør, helt tydeligt
beslægtet med R. pseudochrysanthum. Samme vækstform, samme bladtype og form, samme typiske knopper, men mod
indumenterede skud, bladstilke og blade. Indumentfarven varierer fra sølvhvid til gyldenbrun. Blomst som
R. pseudochrysanthum, lysrosa med purpurfarvede pletter. Ved nærmere inspektion af mange hundrede CW-frøplanter
hos Cox har jeg konstateret en betydelig variation, men de bedste eksemplarer er absolut helt suveræne
bladplanter, og tilsyneladende blomstrer de første gang på ca. 10 år fra frø. Her vist sig fuldkommen hårdfør
her, og er ikke kvælstoffølsom. Voksested Taiwan (fx. Mt. Nanhu).

Folk på Taiwan kalder stædigt denne art R. hyperythrum se BGIF nok udfra Den Japanske botanikers skriverier. (HE)
Griflen kan være glat (FOC) eller beklædt med kirtelhår i den nederste halvdel (HE).
R. pachysanthum vokser kun på Mt. Nanhu, men har vokset her i mil.? år og har her dannet bestande af planter med noget forskelligt udseende på grund af mutationer. Bladene kan have kraftigt indument og uden, selvom ingen er hybrider (naturlig variation). Derfor har det været svært at beskrive denne og man kan jo give variationerne et forma navn. Englænderne kalder vel variationerne for Group R. pachysanthum Group, men Group kan man vel bruge til de fleste gamle arter der har vokset isoleret (Hans eiberg).
