Rhododendron qiaojiaense. A Fortunea name last year, easily identified on account of the very
long rachis of the inflorescence. Unfortunately the type description doesn't seem to identify
this proper, but it can be clearly seen in a photograph in type description. Also how broad
campanulate / funnel-campanulate the flower are is also not clear. It is allied to R. decorum
but seem different enough for a name, it grow in a very different habitat to that of R. decorum.
I suspect this species was first introduce in 1995 by Cox / Hootman and also by Alan Clark, I
think collection numbers C&H7132 and SEH175 is this species, collected on a different location in this
region. Those collections have produced first rate, easy to grow, free flowering plants.

R. qiaojiaense (Fortunea). Blade ovale, ligner R. decorum / vernicosum og R. oreodoxa var. fargesii, dog sj.
med hjerteformet basis, men med anderledes blomst. Vokser bl.a på Yao Shan i NØ Yunnan, Kina ---Frø er introduceret af Alan Clark
som AC 1104, R. fargesii aff. fra Daguan Valley Nord for kulmine i NØ-Yunnan kan være R. qiaojiaense (her vokser
R. oreodoxa var. fargesii ikke, men vokser kun i Sichuan). Ligeledes er planten som AC fandt og mærket som R. glanduliferum er R. qiaojiaense.
Planten er kraftigvoksende og hårdfør og ligner R. decorum. Frøstanden er forlænget som hos Pontica.
Alan Clark har insamlet frø R. glanduliferum aff. AC1041, AC1043 Zhaotang, Maushan, Lahhua 2000-3000m, men det er arten R. qiaojiaense
RSF 10101 (2011) indsamlet i Indien Arunachal-Pradesh er også denne art.
